There are several varieties if eucalyptus: globulus, radiata, and citriodora are common one. E. Joy Bowles discusses 1,8 cineole (eucalpytol) in her book The basic chemistry of aromatic essential oils. She states that it provides an expectorant effect on the respiratory tract, decreases coughing and shortness of breath, and exhibits an anti - inflammatory effect in bronchial asthma.

Nontoxic, non irritating . If oxidized, it may cause irritation or sensitisation. It may antidote homeopathic remedies and us said to be too strong to use with young children on their face or in a steam. Use with caution in cases of high blood pressure , epilepsy or asthma.Care must be taken when using with asthmatics. Although the research show it can be helpful with bronchial asthma it also shows concern that it might set off an asthma attack.
